In-presentable publishes International Festival
Two fresh texts by International Festival published in the book In-presentatble. Books emanating from dance and performance festivals is something rather unusual. In-presentable, a very exciting festival taking place in La Casa Encendida in Madrid curated by Juan Dominguez, is an exception that confirms the new hopefully outdated convention. The equation is simply. Performing arts have to publish more books. As many as possible. Oh yes, it is hard to find performance books in the bookstores. The questions is just whose problem it is. The bookstores’ or the performing arts’. It is indeed rather mystical, and not, that there is so little books on performing arts for example in relation to visual art or architecture. On the other hand it is of course due to the ephemeral character of the expression. As long as it’s not in the book the audience have to come and see the show. But also means that there is hardly no writing on performance and if there is it is often packaged in an academic costume that even more often, most of all, make us want to cry.
In-presentable outlines the last three issues of the festival and portraits a number of artists and performances. Between interviews, transcripts of artists talks etc. a series of essayistic text are introduced. International Festival’s Tor Lindstrand and Mårten Spångberg contributes with two texts on architecture as event respectively the meaning on contemporary. |
